Closing Remarks

Closing remarks from Ian Kerr wrapped up the conference. Kerr indicated that one of the goals of the conference, as well as the On the Identity Trail project, was to involve and inspire students. Another goal was to bring various disciplines together, and Kerr stated that he has been gratified by the cross-disciplinary discussions that emerged at the conference.

Already the conference has resulted in a number of outputs and will continue to do so in the coming weeks. These include a session on the conference on the blog, The OPC Policy Survey Summary, a written report on the conference for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, a complete video archive of the conference, and a special issue of the University of Ottawa Law and Technology Journal. There have also been less tangible but equally important results, such as the creation of new linkages between groups in Canada, Europe and the US.

Finally, Kerr thanked the conference's sponsors, including SSHRC, the Department of Justice, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Bell Canada and Microsoft, as well the conference participants and volunteers.
