Aleks Essex
MASc Candidate, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Ottawa
Aleks is a graduate student in Electrical
Engineering at University of Ottawa's School of Information Technology
and Engineering (SITE). He obtained his BESc in Computer Engineering at
University of Western Ontario. During his undergraduate term, he
co-developed a cryptographic stream cipher which was awarded two top
faculty awards. Aleks's research interests lie in cryptography,
privacy, emergent complex behaviour, and cellular automata.
Aleks is currently working under the supervision
of Dr. Carlisle Adams studying algebraic attacks on the widely used
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cipher. He is a member of the
Punchscan project, a ransparent, high Integrity, voting system.
