Marty Finestone
LL.M (Law and Technology) Candidate 2005-2006, University of Ottawa
Marty
grew up in Montreal, Quebec and London, Ontario. He completed a BA in
Media, Information and Technoculture from the University of Western
Ontario (UWO). While at UWO, Marty was a DJ at the campus radio
station, CHRW, where he had the chance to interview notable people from
former Prime Minister, the Hon. Joe Clark, to the wrestler Chyna.
Marty's interest in communications and technology law brought him to
the University of Ottawa to pursue his LLB, which he completed in the
spring of 2004. While at the University of Ottawa, Marty worked as a
research assistant for Professor Ian Kerr and played a vital role in
the early days of the On the Identity Trail, by being
responsible for the implementation of this website. Marty was also
involved with the development of porting the Creative Commons licensing
regime for Canada.
This past year, Marty completed his articles with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).
In the fall of 2005, Marty returned to the University of Ottawa to
pursue his LL.M with a Concentration in Law and Technology, and to the On the Identity Trail
project, where he oversaw the redesign of the project's website. In
addition to being a research assisstant to Professor Ian Kerr, Marty
continues to guide the direction of blog*on*nymity.
