Sarah Heath
M.A. Candidate, Department of Criminology, University of Ottawa


Sarah is currently a second year M.A. Candidate in the Department of Criminology at the University of Ottawa. Her research interests are varied, but tend to focus on socio-legal studies. Her M.A. thesis is on the theory of court culture and its effect on case processing time in Ontario Provincial bail courts.

In her first year as a graduate student Sarah worked as a research assistant with Dr. Jacquelyn Burkell from Western and Dr. Valerie Steeves from the University of Ottawa on a project that focused on identifying best practises for writing privacy policies for websites targeted at kids and teens. Currently, Sarah is assisting Dr. Valerie Steeves with research on issues surrounding crime and the media and surveillance.

Prior to her Masters, Sarah completed a Honours degree in Criminology and a Concentration degree in Psychology at the University of Ottawa.
