Rafal Morek
LL.M. (Law and Technology) Candidate, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa

Rafal received a Master’s degree in law from the University of Warsaw – Poland (2003). Since then he has pursued doctoral studies in civil law at the University of Warsaw. During his time in Warsaw, Rafal taught courses with undergraduate law students, and practiced law at Dewey Ballantine LLP, specializing primarily in corporate and intellectual property law. He has authored a book and a few articles focusing on alternative dispute resolution, business and international law. He was also actively involved in a number of professional and community organizations. Rafal is currently a LL.M. (Law and Technology) candidate at the University of Ottawa where the primary area of his research focuses on online dispute resolution mechanisms. Rafal is working with Prof. Daphne Gilbert on an in-depth study of constitutional foundations of the right to privacy. This project involves researching the terms privacy and anonymity, and such notions as human dignity, in the context of rights enshrined in the Charter and other instruments. Rafal is exploring how courts and scholars have defined and interpreted those terms, and in what contexts they are used.
